DDG 227 - Walt Disney World Trip

Arrival at The Magic Kingdom was a euphoric moment
Coming up on todays show, Michelle starts to review her Walt Disney World trip with some of the stories and experiences she was able to have at one of the happiest places on earth! So where to start? I suppose the very beginning and the trip to the airport. I live in West Yorkshire, which is in the Northern part of England. Despite being only 8 miles from an airport, prices forced me to drive 210 miles south to fly from Gatwick Airport. Using airline points, I was able to save £450 so the journey was definately worth it for me.

Prior to the trip, I played a game with listeners to guess the weight of the cases. Admittedly, in hindsight - yes I took too many items of clothing but I live and hopefully learn! On the outbound trip the prize was won by Caroline Gray (her guess was 39.5kgs and the actual was 39.3kgs) and on the return trip Kevin Curtis Allen (actual weight was 52.kg).
The hotel I stayed in for the initial leg of the trip was All Star Movies. I must say that I was impressed with the room. It was clean, comfortable and had sufficient storage for my luggage! We chose to not have housekeeping had this resulted in a $50 gift card for our 6 night stay. If I had to say one negative about the room - it would be I found it a little dark.
During the first week I had at Walt Disney World, I was able to visit all four parks,as well as Typhoon Lagoon. The crowd levels where not too horrendous and we used the Fast Pass Plus system to ensure when we had used our three pre-booked fastpasses that we obtained a further to enable us to ride without long waits. Alternatively, if we saw an attraction with a short queue - we rode.

A big highlight was visiting the dress shop at Disney Springs with my friend Katherine. We had such fun trying on all the dresses! I will write up and share pictures on a separate post.

Another highlight was the food and no doubt I will be talking about this for many weeks to come! A big mention must be the carrot cake cookie which not longer resembles a cookie but a monster double decker slab of cake with frosting inside!
Something new for me was Toy Story Land. It is such a fun place to be and the new attraction - Slinky Dog Dash - is a big hit. That is about it now for this weeks post. If you want to get in touch with us, you can:

DDG 226 - Adulting on The Disney Cruise Line

Welcome to the show notes for the Disney Dream Girls Podcast, show number 226 for Sunday 9th September 2018. If you want to listen, whilst you read these notes, all you have to do is press the green triangle on the audio player below. Alternatively, why not listen via iTunes, Stitcher Radio or any podcast catching place! On this weeks show, Michelle begins to share details of her three-week Walt Disney World/Disney Cruise Line trip starting with the week she had on the Disney Fantasy.
First, lets begin with the journey fromWalt Disney World to Port Canaveral. As we wanted to get onboard as soon as we could, we booked a private limo service. It cost $200 for the four of us and we managed to get to the port for just past 10am.
Once we had queued to check in, we lined up again to meet Minnie in her super cute Cruise Line attire. Then we had a wait of around fifteen minutes for our boarding time to arrive!
Once onboard, we headed straight to the adult pool and ordered a drink to relax and begin to unwind in readiness for the week ahead.
On the first afternoon, we took the opportunity to take advantage of the kids clubs having an open house. Whilst it was fun to go in and look inside, there were no actual activities taking place.
Then Michelle moved the discussion to whether there was enough for adults to do onboard. In this section, Michelle discussed the various different lounges.

That then wraps up this weeks show. We hope you have enjoyed listening and as usual our social media links are:

Having 11 different countries to explore, a visit here is a must but be warned... a day is never enough! As you leave Future World you have a choice before entering World Showcase - left or right. Left takes you to Mexico and then to Norway, China, Germany whereas right takes you to Canada, the UK and France, Morocco, America and Italy. There is also a boat that takes your across Showcase Lagoon.
During  your travels around the world, you will find new cuisine and beverages to try - so indulge! Also, find the time to look for the details in the pavilions as well as chatting to cast members about their home countries.

DDG 221 - Tiffany and Daniel Review Toy Story Land

Welcome to the show notes for the Disney Dream Girls Podcast, show number 221 for Sunday 5th August 2018. If you want to listen, whilst you read these notes, all you have to do is press the green triangle on the audio player below. Alternatively, why not listen via iTunes, Stitcher Radio or any podcast catching place!
Coming up on this weeks show, we welcome previous guest Tiffany Morse and for his first time appearance - her son Daniel. Together they share details about an expected bonus Walt Disney World trip they were able to do.
A Good Neighbour Hotel Stay
They stayed at a good neighbour hotel in the Disney Springs area - the Hilton Lake Buena Vista Palace. They liked the convenience to Disney Springs and that they still had the benefits of a Disney hotel like the early fastpass booking window and extra magic hours. The downside however, was the shuttle was not available to match up to park hours. Daniel added that his favourite part of the hotel was the lazy river and the hot tub!
Toy Story Land
With the land freshly opened, Tiffany and Daniel were very excited to try out everything and along with Tiffany's daughter they had planned a full day at DHS.
With Fastpasses booked they were at the park early and ready to try out attractions and food offerings.

On the podcast, they share their thoughts about the land and review Woody's Lunchbox.
If you are looking to book a trip, Tiffany is able to help you out as she is also a vacation planner with Wishes Family Travel. You can email her tiffm@wishesfamilytravel.com or call her at 678 770 4144. If you mention DREAM50 at the time of booking your trip, you will be able to receive a $50 gift card at the time of departure. Which is a great offer so thank you Tiffany for enabling our listeners to receive that, as well as being able to use your services.

DDG 219 - Unique Attractions in the Disney Theme Parks

Welcome to the show notes for the Disney Dream Girls Podcast, show number 219 for Sunday 22nd July 2018. If you want to listen, whilst you read these notes, all you have to do is press the green triangle on the audio player below. Alternatively, why not listen via iTunes, Stitcher Radio or any podcast catching place!

Coming up on this weeks show, Michelle is joined by Kat and Lewis from the Dis Down Under Podcast to talk about some of the unique attractions that can be found in the Disney theme parks.
As you may know, Disney has theme parks in the USA, France, Tokyo, Hong Kong and China. In these parks you will see some repetition of the same or similar rides for example Disneyland in California and Paris both have a Snow White attraction and they are fairly similar.
Blanche-Neige et les Sept Nains in DLP
However, when you look at Winne the Pooh based attractions Walt Disney World, Hong Kong Disneyland, Disneyland and Shanghai Disneyland they are all very similar but in Tokyo Disneyland you will find Pooh's Hunny Hunt and this is what we would call unique. It is based on a trackless system and it is, in our guests opinion, one of the best Disney attractions there is. Below is a ride along video courtest of SoCal Attractions 360.
In the show, we look at the features that these attractions have. A favourite of Michelle's is Crushes Coaster at Walt Disney Studios in Paris. Whilst it is not unique, as there are other dark ride Finding Nemo attractions, this is the only spinning rollercoaster that is inside but with an outdoor reveal element.
Some of the other attractions Michelle discusses are the Alice in Wonderland, Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage and The Matterhorn which are all based in Disneyland and all use different vehicle types.
Meanwhile, Kat and Lewis share information on Tron Lightcycle Power Run, Mystic Manor, Ratatouille and Aquatopia amongst others. What is interesting to note is that both the Tron and Ratatouille attractions are under construction at Walt Disney World.
We hope you have enjoyed the show and ask you... did we miss anything? What makes an attraction unique to you and what are your favourites?

Coming up on this weeks show, Michelle and Jayne celebrate the 63rd birthday of Disneyland by reviewing their favourite attractions in the Disneyland Resort.
On the show, we discuss each of our top 15 attractions and we learnt from this that it is incredibly difficult to narrow it down to 15!
Jayne's number one was iTs A Small World whereas Michelle chose Radiator Springs Racers.

We then discussed the Star Wars awards that are now open for entries. If you would more information, follow the link! Star Wars Awards-2018
Then we end the show with a listeners question on favourite beverages at Walt Disney World - with Jayne covering the alcoholic options and Michelle sharing ideas for the non alcoholic.

Alternatively, why not listen via iTunes, Stitcher Radio or any podcast catching place!
Coming up in these show notes, is the second part of our show notes and this time we will be looking at the offerings available in Pixar Pier. Firstly, we must thank our friend Thomas Allison (from the Disgeek Podcast and The Cruise Dudes Podcast) for the information and photographs we use.
Whilst there are not any 'new' attractions here, two favourites have been re-imagined to fit within the new Pixar theming. In addition, Toy Story Mid Way Mania remains and there are some games to play linked into the Pixar franchise. In addition, in 2019 there will be Jessie's Critter Carousel.

The Incredicoaster
This attraction is definately a thrill ride and is available for guests over 48" to ride. It is the 8th longest rollercoaster in the world (3rd longest in the USA). It has a top speed of 55mph and has one inversion.
The theming fits incredibly well with the franchise and is a must ride daytime but also in the nighttime. Pixar Pal-A-Round

This is a re-theming of Mickeys Fun Wheel. Here upto six guests can share a gondola and there is an option of a fixed vehicle of a swinging one. There is no height restriction on this attraction.

Food Offerings
There are four main places to get food that is themed around the Pixar franchises:
  • Angry Dogs
  • Senor Buzz Churros
  • Adorable Snowman Frosted Treats
  • Poultry Palace
  • Jack Jack's Cookie Num Nums
On the show we chat in detail about the Poultry Palace as a good place to visit for a meal that offers a change from burgers or sandwiches.

DDG 217 - Spotlight on Pixar

Welcome to part 1 of show notes for the Disney Dream Girls Podcast, show number 217 for Sunday 8th July 2018. If you want to listen, whilst you read these notes, all you have to do is press the green triangle on the audio player below. Alternatively, why not listen via iTunes, Stitcher Radio or any podcast catching place!
On this weeks show we review the two new but different Pixar based attractions that are open in the two American Disney theme parks.
Photo Credit - The Unofficial Guide to WDW for Kids
On these set of notes we start with Toy Story Land in Disney Hollywood Studios, as Disney have increased the size of the presence of Toy Story here into a full land. Toy Story Midway Mania remains unchanged apart from the new entrance however there are two new attractions; Slinky Dog Dash and Alien Saucer Spin.
Photo Credit - The Unofficial Guide to WDW for Kids
On opening weekend lines were incredibly long. At points guests with fastpasses only were being let into the land and queues were upto 300 minutes and beyond. Our advice is to rope drop these attractions and also utilise the Fastpass system via the Disney app. Another tip is to visit during the evening as the lighting is amazing.
Photo Credit - The Unofficial Guide to WDW for Kids
Slinky Dog Dash
Slinky Dog Dash
Guests over 38" tall are able to ride this coaster style attraction which lasts approximately 2 minutes. Whilst it is not meant to be a white knuckle ride (like Rock n Roller Coaster) it certainly will play on the 'feels' of the land where adult guests are taken back to their childhood.
Photo Credit Unofficial Guide to WDW for Kids
Alien Saucer Spin
Guests over 32" can ride this 'whipping' style attraction. Its movement is very reminicent of Mateors Junkyard Jamboree in Cars Land but themed to the cute aliens in the Toy Story franchise.
Photo Credit Unofficial Guide to WDW for Kids
The Land Itself
The theming is excellent and will remind all adults of the familiar toys that they played with as a child. Some children may not recognise instantly some of the toys but they will be bowled over by the colours and playfulness of everything.

There are so many hidden secrets and gems to be found whilst walking around the popsicle benches and wall is an example of this.

Food Offerings
Lunch Box Tarts - Photo Credit WDW Website
Woody's Lunch Box is the place to go to if you want to eat in Toy Story Land. On the show we discuss the many offerings and give our verdict on them.
S'mores French Toast Sandwich - Photo Credit WDW Website
Whilst we both feel the offerings are quite heavy on bread placed products, it does as per the theming - offers a childs typical lunchbox.  However, this is perhaps prior to health professionals pressure on what a health lunch box should contain!
Monte Cristo - Photo Credit WDW Website
On the show we discuss our idea for the addition of a table service option for the land as well.

That is about it for this weeks notes, as usual we encourage you to contact the show in the usual manner.
