Disney Dream Girls 136 - Disney Chat with a Christmas Feel

Welcome to the show notes for the Disney Dream Girls podcast for, show number 136 for Sunday 11th November 2016. As always, if you wish to listen to the podcast, whilst reading this blog, you can click on the player below.

On this weeks show, Michelle and Jayne start by sharing some of their homes Disney magic.

Jayne has three Christmas trees, all themed differently, as well as outside lighting and Studio 56 ornaments.

Michelle has a Disney tree with a Monorail running around her lounge. It is complete with: the Grand Floridian; Polynesian Resort and Contemporary Resort playsets plus Castle and other attractions. To see it running, there is a video on our Facebook page also.

Then, we talk about two hard-ticket events that are going to be held at Disneyland. The first is the opportunity to purchase a ticket to see the return of the Main Street Electrical Parade at a ticket only event the night before it premieres for the general public.
The second event, is a dessert party to celebrate the last night of the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. At $95 I imagine this event will be a sell out due to the attractions popularity.
Then, we chat about our favourite Christmas movie - The Muppets Christmas Carol. Is it yours? Let us know!

Disney Dream Girls 134 - Disney Mail and News

Welcome to the show notes for the Disney Dream Girls podcast for, show number 134, Sunday 20th November 2016. As always, if you wish to listen to the podcast, whilst reading this blog, you can click on the player below.

On this weeks show we discuss a few snippets of news that we found interesting. These included the possibility of Disneyland Paris introducing somewhere for people to attach their own love locks in the park. What do you think about this idea? Why not get in touch and let us know your thoughts - our email address is info@disneydreamgirls.com

Another news item was the preview pictures of the new style Magic Band with their removable 'pucks'. I must admit, I really like the key ring idea - much safer!

Moving away from the news, a couple of listeners got in touch with reviews. One for PizzeRizzo and the other for the Jingle Bam Dessert Party at Disney Hollywood Studios. If you ever want to share your experiences from your Disney trips please get in touch!

You all know my thoughts on dessert parties. Whilst the food is mostly delicious, the $69 ticket is a little steep and for a hard ticket event it is unacceptable to be crammed into a small courtyard. However, if your time is limited, you can take advantage of the alcoholic beverages and have a healthy appetite - go for it and book it!

Disney Dream Girls 133 - Disney Cruise LIne Trip Review

Welcome to the show notes for the Disney Dream Girls podcast for, show number 133, Sunday 13th November 2016. As always, if you wish to listen to the podcast, whilst reading this blog, you can click on the player below.

On this show, we discuss a few items of news and then we are joined by our guest, Dave Tupper, to talk about some of his experiences on the Disney Cruise Line.

The Disney Cruise Line was founded on 6th February 1996 and currently has four ships (The Wonder, Magic, Dream and Fantasy) with two further vessels due in the coming years. Additionally, the company owns its own private island, called Castaway Cay.

On the show, Dave shares his experiences about his Alaskan and Carribean cruises.  He speaks about: the delicious dining; his experiences on taking one of the excursions; the entertainment; his love of Castaway Cay and lots more. Guess you will have to listen to find out all his top tips!

It is clear that to Dave and his family, Disney cruises offer them the ability to have quality family time together but peace of mind when their daughter would be well looked after when attending one of the kids club.

A favourite dining location was Animators Palate. The eateries slightly differ ship to ship but Dave was highly complementary on them all. Disney, was the first Cruise Line company to introduce the idea of rotational dining, where the key team of servers moved to the different dining locations with their guests; to ensure excellent service.

Dave was a fabulous guest and we can't wait to have him back on the podcast to talk about his travels and also about Aulani!

Disneyland Paris Trip Review

Welcome to the this post from the Disney Dream Girls podcast for, number 132, Sunday 6th November 2016. As always, if you wish to listen to our audio content, whilst reading this blog, you can click on the player below.

On this show, we discuss three fun news items and then Michelle reviews her trip to Disneyland Paris.

My Shortened Trip Review!

Food
Disneyland Paris has some hidden gems that you really have to try. On this trip, I ate at Chez Remy. In my opinion this is a great place for a delicious steak meal: served with the house speciality - ratatouille. However, due to a fire alarm, I was unable to eat my whole meal, however I will be back in 2017 to eat there again!

Complementary Cocktail for Annual Pass Holders
For counter service, I really was surprised by the food within Videopolis at Cafe Hyperion. It is themed to Star Wars and the burger quality was really good (total surprise) and the cupcake was a delicious chocolate rich treat.

Character Meets
Disneyland Paris is a great place to meet characters. During my trip I met a range of characters. As it was a few days prior to Halloween, there were a lot of villains to meet and I was impressed that I didn't need to buy an dining package or special event ticket either.

General Information
The park does get some incredible theming upgrades for the different seasons. My favourite was this thorny dragon: Maleficient had her meet and greet by this.
Whilst this trip was definately memorable, it was not without its issues. Having a knee injury, I had to use a wheelchair but on the whole, I found the park to be wheelchair friendly.

Competition
On our Facebook page, we are running a giveaway for a Disneyland Paris Christmas  pin. All you have to do is find the lead post, then share a Christmas in the parks picture with a description... then you could win one!

Disney Dream Girls 131 - Positively Full of Disney

Welcome to the show notes for the Disney Dream Girls Podcast, show number 131, for Sunday 30th October 2016. As always, if you wish to listen now, whilst looking at these pictures, click on the player below.

Amongst our Disney musings on this weeks show, we include a look ahead to the 25th celebrations that Disney are planning for Disneyland Paris. They have tag lined the year as 'Time to Sparkle' and we can't wait to see some of the upcoming shows and events. Plus it will also see an end to the ride refurbishments that DLP attendees have been tolerating recently, as management get the park ready for the celebrations.

As it is a Halloween show, we have a murder mystery for you also! Do you know the mystery surrounding the deaths of the Dread family at Walt Disney World's Haunted Mansion? Well you will certainly want to listen to find out!

We also have a mini review, from Michelle, of the concert she attended at the Royal Albert Hall  - entitled Disney's Broadway Hits. This was a sensational evening of musical entertainment with stars of the shows performing along with the BBC Concert Orchestra. The cherry on the cake was an appearance by Alan Menken himself!

If you wish to hear some of the recordings, you can click on this link. But we believe it will be televised sometime around December 2016.
Michelle's Copy of the Kimberley's Book
Then we move on our main feature, and we were luckily introduced to the author Kimberley Bouchard by our amazing friend (and listener) Becky Manion. Kimberley has written a book containing an wonderful array of stories showcasing the impact that Disney has had on peoples lives. From guests to cast members, she retells their powerful and heartwarming stories.  Fortunately for us, she shares one or two of them with us for you to enjoy. But it doesn't end there, she is currently writing the second book, in the series, with further fabulous stories. The book is available in a multitude of places, but we have included the link to Amazon if you wish to buy it

Both of us agree it would make a fabulous gift for any Disney loving fan. Click this link to buy Positively Disney: Heartwarming Stories about Disney's Impact on People's Lives by Kimberley Bouchard from Amazon.

Disney Dream Girls 130 - Via Napoli Wins Everytime

Welcome to the show notes for the Disney Dream Girls Podcast, show number 130 for Sunday 23rd October 2016. As always, if you wish to listen now, whilst looking at these pictures, click on the player.

Amongst our Disney musings on this weeks show, Michelle shares her experiences of EPCOT dining at Via Napoli against The Rose and Crown. She thought it would be a fun idea to have a starter and entree in Italy with her friend, Youtube video host of The Big Fat Panda Show John Saccheri, then have dessert in the UK pavillion.

What could go wrong? Well we dined on delicious food in Italy, however the desserts at EPCOT were more of an interpretation of English 'puddings' rather than the delicious desserts Michelle is more used to. At this point, insert Jayne getting cross that the trifle did not have sherry in it nor any sponge fingers!
