On this week's show, Michelle is joined by her husband Tom to talk through their Walt Disney World trip.
They decided to stay at Pop Century and found the room to be comfortable, mostly well cleaned and in a good location for their travels to and from the various theme parks.
Unfortunately, they had a few issues with regards to ants but Disney dealt with this immediately and they did not find this to be too much of an issue. Whenever the ants arrived - they reported them and the housekeeping and maintenance staff did a great job.
When decided about room cleaning versus having a financial incentive, they opted to have housekeeping, rather than a gift voucher (which they estimated it would have been $150). One day the room cleaning was well below Disney standard but housekeeping addressed it and sent someone out to re-clean the room and leave towels, cups, coffee etc.
Whilst away, they got married. On the show they talk about this however they will write a separate blog post about the process behind getting married in Florida (particularly if you are not a Florida resident).

273 Disney VIP Food Tours
Welcome to the show notes for the Disney Dream Girls Podcast, show number 273 for Sunday 11th August 2019. If you want to listen, whilst reading these notes, just click the player below or alternatively find us in iTunes, Libsyn, on Stitcher Radio or via any good podcast catching app.
On this week's show, Michelle is joined by Kat and Lewis (from Dis Down Under) to talk about the Taste of the Magic Kingdom VIP Food Tour that is offered at the Magic Kingdom.
The tour costs $99 per person plus tax and is available Monday/Tuesday and Friday through Sundays. Tours can be booked by calling 407-939-3463. The minimum age for participation is 16 (those aged 16-18 must have a parent/guardian present) and there are a range of clothing/health requirements that must be met prior to continuing with the tour.
Our guides were incredibly knowledgable about the food offered at the park and was aimed to give a sampling of past, present and future food offerings at the Magic Kingdom.
During the tour, we were able to taste eight samples:
Mickey Shaped Cinnamon Roll
A tasting from Skippers Canteen.
This involved a drink of passion fruit, orange and guava. Then they combined an appetiser of their cachapas (beer braised pork with an avocado cream - seen at the bottom of the picture) and then their curried crew stew (pineapple tofu, vegetable curry served with coconut rice). This was delicious! We also heard from chef Alfredo, who told us about the dishes as well as his career with the Disney company.
Turkey Leg - something not to my taste but was much easier to eat with a fork.
Dole Whip - a theme park must have!
Colonial Salad and this was explained by sous chef Ana inside the Diamond Horsehoe.
Grey Stuff - just the right amount of this treat as it is very sweet.
Plant Based Sloppy Joe - not for us but it highlighted the efforts Disney are making to cater for all guests dietary requirements.
Pork Spring Roll - no photograph available as was a 'taste test'.
Water, a non-alcohol fruit drink and a hot tea/coffee was available.
On the podcast, we go into detail about the history of the locations and the items and share our thoughts and feelings of the tour. Would we recommend it - well if you are a foodie that likes backstage experiences then - yes. If you have a lot of food allergies or are a vegetarian then this tour would not give you the same value as alternate offerings could not be offered. However, they did ensure of no cross contamination of foods due to my husbands shellfish allergy. The food samples were plentiful though some were more to our liking than others.

On this week's podcast, Michelle welcomes Julie and Jerry Harrington to the show to discuss their Disney loving life.
Just like last week's guests, Julie and Jerry are massive Disney fans however, they decided not just to stay there for a year but to leave their home and to move to Florida. On the show, they: talk about how they met; their decision to move; their shared passion of Run Disney and also some recent trips.
As the interview moves on, Julie shares details about how, together with her cousin Eileen, they decided to share a 40th celebration at Walt Disney World. Eileen, who had never been to a Disney park before, left the planning to the Harrington's on how to get a good feel for the Disney parks. So they bravely planned in to visit all four parks on one day and they share their day and how they tailored it to suit the three of them.
How would you tackle this feat? Listen in and hear how they mixed things up and enabled Eileen to have a great overview of Walt Disney World.
When it comes to accomodation, Julie and Jerry love to stay at Fort Wilderness and they share details about the facilities and process of staying there.
As you can see from the pictures, the pitches are really well spaced out and it is incredibly beautiful.
