279 What Becky Did at Walt Disney World

Welcome to the show notes for the Disney Dream Girls Podcast, show number 279 for Sunday 29th September 2019.  If you want to listen, whilst reading these notes, just click the player below or alternatively find us in iTunesLibsyn, on Stitcher Radio or via any good podcast catching app.

On this week's show, Michelle is joined by travel blogger (and friend of the show) Becky Manion. Together they discuss some items of news before chatting through a few highlights from Becky's recent trip to Walt Disney World.
News
Becky was  very excited to bring forward the topic of the Skyliner and she can not wait to report back on them!
We also chatted through the announcement about Walt
Disney World creating and making available around 400 menu items that were plant based and we hear from a Disney chef to explain about some of the offerings.

Staying Concierge
So firstly, Becky and her family did not book this level, in fact when they arrived at check-in it came as a complete surprise!
So on the show, she goes into detail about what the lounge looked like and what was available.
Becky explained that is was definately something that she would seek out to add to a booking again because between the snacks and alcoholic beverages she felt it was worth the upcharge cost.

Gardens of the World Tour
Frequent listeners/readers of ours will know that Becky loves to do a new tour on each and every trip. So being at EPCOT during Flower and Garden Festival she could not resist doing this one!

With a pair of horticulturists as her guide, she explored World Showcase with a slant on the planting and the efforts Disney does to ensure everything looks in pristine condition.

At the end of the tour, she received a really cute pin too! Despite being the youngest on the tour, Becky found it very interesting and would highly recommend it others - particularly if you have a gardening interest.

Beignets - check, check and double check! Boy did they meet this challenge! Whilst they didn't manage to eat at Ralph Brennan's, they did try the beignets from Cafe du Monde and Cafe Beignet in New Orleans!

Walt Disney World Challenges

Report back about the room at Pop Century - both Kat and Lewis loved the resort and enjoyed the many advantages that this value resort offered. As to the killer bed - they reported no injuries because the second bed was kept as a table.

Be a mermaid - Disney introduced this experience for both children and adults alike. For around $50 Kat felt this was a fun experience and really enjoyed it.

Dumbo's Magic Feather Brownie - alas they daring duo did not find this delight... so it will be up to Michelle to try it out in July!

Report back about Cinderella's Royal Table. On the show, Kat and Lewis discuss their thoughts. Whilst they enjoyed it - it is a one and done for them.

Highway in the Sky Dine Around - yes they did this and will be going into detail about it on their podcast in the coming weeks.

Coming up on this weeks show, Michelle is joined by travel blogger - Becky Manion. Together, the duo discuss her latest trip, which included a road trip from Orlando down to Miami.
Pirate Night On The Disney Magic
A Cast Member Gave Becky A First Trip Button
Becky picked up a hire car and drove down to Disney's Vero Beach Resort. They stayed there one night in a standard room. Becky loved the airy feel of the resort, as well as the many Disney touches, which included Dole Whip!
Vero Beach Is Right On The Beach
The Lobby
After a further drive, they arrived at the port in Miami, where the Disney Magic awaited them. Their cruise was a five night Marvel at Sea itinerary. Having already done the Star Wars at Sea, Becky was curious to see how this differed. The good news was that this cruise was much much better. From the content to the organisation - Becky was impressed! The only downside being the incredibly well hidden Marvel shop!
Lots of Characters to Meet
The cruise had a stop at Castaway Cay and Becky loved this! She managed to get her hands on her first 5K Disney medal too!
Awesome Bedrunner

Disney Dream Girls 211 - Life is a Dream with Becky Manion

Welcome to the show notes for the Disney Dream Girls Podcast, show number 211 for Sunday 27th May 2018. If you want to listen, whilst you read these notes, all you have to do is press the green triangle on the audio player below. Alternatively, why not listen via iTunes, Sticher Radio or any podcast catching place!
Coming up on this weeks show, Michelle is joined by our much loved friend - Becky Manion.  Becky is a self confessed holiday-a-holic and she loves nothing more than going on a Disney holiday and sharing everything about it.
On her most recent trip, Becky travelled to Walt Disney World and had a Saratoga Springs Stay with a mini Disney Cruise (on the Disney Dream) inbetween. For the full details - listen to the show. However, below we have some highlights for you!
A highlight for Becky was the Palo Brunch. It is not offered everyday - on her experience - just sea days. It has an upcharge cost of $30 however, that does include a mimosa on arrival, food from the buffet and hot selections from the menu.
Becky was particularly impressed with the vast selection of foods. From breads, cheeses and characturie to pastries and cereals. There was an ample dessert bar where Becky food an array of delightfully treats. This trip, Becky had also eaten brunch at the California Grill (which has an upcharge of $80) and Becky said it stood up favourably in comparision.
Some of Becky's family are vegans. So on the podcast she talks about the accomodations that Disney made in order that they were catered for. From special curries to pancakes - they were very impressed.
As well as talking about the cruise, Becky gives her opinion on Pandora and shares a touch of Disney magic that she was able to do.
So that is it for our chat with Becky. It wouldn't be the Disney Dream Girls Podcast without some foodie chat but for the full infomation on that you will have to listen to the podcast!

Disney Dream Girls 179 - A Tale of Two Disneyland Races

Welcome to the show notes for the Disney Dream Girls podcast for show number 179 for Sunday 1st October 2017. If you wish to listen to the podcast, whilst reading this blog, all you have to do is click on the audio player below. Alternatively, our podcast can be found in most places that host podcasts such as iTunes (click here to subscribe) and Stitcher Radio.

This show has two very special guests, the first is Deborah Wolfe and she is from Ottawa, Canada and has competed in Run Disney events in Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World and Disneyland Paris. She joins us to talk through her race experience as well as staying at both the Disneyland Hotel and the Grand Californian.
Secondly, we are joined by Katie Mason from England. Together with her awesome family, she has just returned from competing in the Disneyland Paris race weekend.

Deborah's experience was very different to that of Katie's. For example the races at times were put under heat warnings. Additionally, the races in the USA are much more established and all the kinks have been ironed out. However, both ladies are fans of the Run Disney community and have made an array of friends through the races. They also enjoy the fun of dressing up in costumes.
Past race Disney bounding as Dopey
An Incredible Family! Katie pictured with her sister and brother in law
An additional enticement is the array of Disney characters that you can meet as they cheer you on along the route. If you saw our Facebook page for the DLP race weekend I spotted over 35 different characters and some of them were quite rare finds!
Shared with kind permission from @FabulousMagique

It all looks great fun and they share their experiences - the good and they bad - with us on the podcast.

So what do you think? Are you keen to start training? Have you competed? We would love to hear your stories!
So I think we will wrap this show up until next time, it is goodbye from us but don't forget to keep up to date with us by ensuring you follow along on all of our social media sites:

Disney Dream Girls 153 - Disney Cruise Line and Star Wars at Sea

Welcome to the show notes for the Disney Dream Girls podcast for show number 153 for Sunday 9th April 2017. As always, if you wish to listen to the podcast, whilst reading this blog, all you have to do is click on the audio player below.

Coming up on this show, Michelle is joined by Becky Manion to share her recent first trip on the Disney Fantasy. Becky is a big Star Wars fan so to her, there was only one itinerary she could choose - The Star Wars At Sea. On the show she covers many aspects of her trip from the perspective of an adult wanting a 'grown up' experience.
A highlight was Castaway Cay
For her room, Becky choose to have a balcony room. Was a difficult choice due to the cost, however she highly recommends paying the extra.
Room on the Fantasy for two
On her cruise, Becky also booked some excurisons via Disney. She did Tequila tasting in Mexico and a day out in Jamaica, which included Dunn's River Falls.

On the show, Becky also talks about the Star Wars at Sea part of the cruise and what was on offer. Whilst impressed by the fireworks show, she was disappointed with the viewing ability for some aspects of it. Additionally, she really wanted to meet a wider range of characters but only got the chance to meet Chewbacca.

However, a big highlight for her was a trip to Disney's private island - Castaway Cay. She and fiance Luke loved it!
