Disney Dream Girls Show 126 - Questions Answered and a Trip to The Boathouse

Welcome to the show notes for the Disney Dream Girls Podcast, show number 126 for Sunday 25th September 2016. As always, if you wish to listen now, whilst looking at these pictures, click on the player below.

On the podcast, we answer two listeners questions. The first being a request for the perfect gift from Walt Disney World and the second was a select restaurants to dine in at Disneyland Paris. To hear our answers, listen to the show.

Then we moved on to review the Boathouse Restaurant, which opened in Disney Springs earlier this year. Firstly, the scenery was reminiscent of an actual boathouse. Very light and airy, despite all of the wooden trim and the boating artefacts. From checking in to wait staff everyone I saw dealt with me courteously - making me feel very welcome.
Gin and strawberry based drink
As we had arrived at the table early, I ordered a drink from the bar. It was very refreshing and quite strong too. Just the ticket on a warm late August afternoon in Florida.

My Main from Maine
Finale - our dessert
The starters we had were Florida style smokehouse fish dip with white corn tortilla chips and also hoisin chilli calamari. The dip was very light and the chips weren't greasy. It worked really well with the slight kick of the calamari. The two started amply served the four of us.
My main was the 1 1/4lb split baked crab filled lobster served with asparagus and Creole butter sauce. The lobster was cooked perfectly and melted in my mouth. However, as in the case of all lobster, extraction of the lobster from the shell was tricky but the claws had been pre-cracked to make matters easier. We ended our meal with the smores baked alaska. Each and every item was flavoursome and in my opinion good value for the quality and quantity of food served.  I must add... the baked alaska was huge and made a ceremonial entry to our table. Our waiter prepared our servings table side and I swear I heard intakes of breath due to its huge size!
Shotski Time
Our evening ended with the management organising a shotski to be drunk on the jetty - a perfect and a fun ending to the evening. Each glass with filled with blueberry vodka and was good fun - if not a challenge due to my friend Stephen being over a foot taller than me!
View from the jetty
The show ended with a massive birthday shout out to the wonderful Tom Ameen and I shared his rendition of Firework by Katy Perry.

Constant Cravings for Amorettes

Warning, you might not want to read this when hungry as it contains mouth-watering images of the most decadent, delicious delacies you ever want to eat!

Pinboard inside Amorettes enhancing the theme
Amorettes opened up a few short months ago in the Town Centre section of Disney Springs. I was in Orlando for just 15 days and in that time I visited Amorettes not once but four times. This alone should give you a clue to how much I loved their fine patisserie. In fact, if getting to Disney Springs wouldn't have taken 2-3 hours out of my day, I would have eaten there daily. To find out... look and read on!
My favourite that I took away to enjoy at the hotel
During my visits, I managed to try at least six of the cakes currently on the menu. I opted to try flavours I was familiar with or liked. But there truly is something for everyone. However, there was a cake I had twice because I loved it so much - Amorette's Petit Cake. This was sublime! Whilst only classed as a petit cake, I shared it out for a taste between six or would work between two or three for dessert.
Stunning packaging and fabulous staff
This cake has eleven layers - yes eleven. They consist of:
  • red velvet cake
  • chocolate cake
  • cherry mousse
  • chocolate mousse
  • raspberry pate de fruit jelly
  • Italian buttercream
Up close, the eleven layers of the Petit Cake

Tea Time Petit Cake
Another Petit Cake was the Tea Time Petit Cake. This one was very pretty and I saw a chef hand finishing them in the store. They really are truly mini pieces of art. This cake was packed with layers of lemon flavours.
Dancing with Pavlova
Upclose view
The Dancing with Pavlova was another favourite. It was so delicate but packed a real flavour punch. Originally, this was a square design but I feel the design change has visually enchanced it and the delicate floral touch is very pretty. The raspberry jelly was so good! It had a really light touch and I felt I wasn't been too greedy with this one.

For chocoholics there are plenty of choices too from their Opera Cake (coffee and chocolate flavours), Avant Guarde (chocolate chiffon cake) and their Sacher Torte (chocolate, almond and apricot). Also don't forget their other pastries as there are lots to choose from including an incredible chocolate chip cookie.

If you want to celebrate, there are the dome cakes. These are playfully based around Disney characters. I would imagine would serve anywhere from 6 as a large dessert to tastings for around 12 people. Each cake has a different flavour profile and the difficulty is choosing which to order!

Have you been and tried a cake from Amorettes? Please let us know your thoughts! Finally, listen out to our podcast number 125 as we will be talking more about Amorettes on this show.

Disney Dream Girls 124 - Walt Disney World Trip Review

Welcome to the show notes for the Disney Dream Girls Podcast, show number 124 for Sunday 11th September 2016. As always, if you wish to listen whilst looking at these pictures click on the player below.

This weeks show sees Michelle recall some of her memories from her recent trip to Walt Disney World. From a disappointing night at the Star Wars Galactic Dessert Party to Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party but also DVC tours and a quick review of Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom Lodge.
Wilderness Lodge was a very good hotel choice for me. I loved the ease of the bus and watercraft transportation. Roaring Forks was handy for a quick service snack and the pool was a welcoming place after a busy park day. Whereas Animal Kingdom Lodge was not as convenient, the setting and theming really makes you feel you are holidaying in Africa.
The highlight of the holiday was the people I met and whilst I met and spent time with lots of people, on this show I spoke at length about the time I spent with Anthony Markham, Laura Gregory and Stephen Klimosko. Disney is a fabulous place for making amazing memories with friends. Disney provides a vacation you will never outgrow!

On the podcast we announce the question to the competition we are running. It is a fabulous competition to win the pin shown below so make sure you take part!
We will be back next week with some more Disney fun, but until then, keep upto date with Michelle's travels in Walt Disney World by ensuring you follow all of our social media sites:

In upcoming shows, I will be featuring dining reviews from Tiffins, California Grill and the Boathouse restaurants, where the best ice cream on property can be found and also fun and games with the Earvengers but lots lots more!
