Disney Dream Girls 111 - Walt Disney World Trip Report Focusing on Tours

Welcome to the show notes for the Disney Dream Girls Podcast, show 111 for Sunday 12th June 2016. Coming up on today's show, we have a Walt Disney World trip report, focussing on three of the tours our guest took. As usual, to listen to the show, our audio player is below.

Our guest for this show is our good friend Rebecca Manion. Becky has been a guest on the show before and got engaged on her trip - front and centre of the castle! As a quick reminder, Becky has written a little bio to introduce herself to you.

Becky's Bio
My favourite picture from Becky's trip
I'm 30 years old, live in London and I love Walt Disney World! My favourite hotel is the Polynesian and as well as Disney, I like the Marvel and Star Wars franchises. I own a Dachshund, work for a building firm (in their head office) and adore tattoos. Additionally, I have cystic fibrosis so have a knowledge about travelling from the UK to the USA with additional needs.

On the podcast, Becky talks about the Backstage Magic Tour, Wild Africa Trek and Starlight Safari and Animal Kingdom Lodge. To find out more information about each tour, to check availability and up to date prices, please use this link click here.

Whilst Becky wasn't happy about her Backstage Magic experience, she did love the two animal based tours she did. For Wild Africa Trek, she and her family went on the afternoon tour, which started with a safety jacket being fitted. Tutition was given on how to hook and unhook yourself to the rope system. Becky was incredibly impressed by the lengths the instructors and guides went to to ensure safety. The tour included insights on some of the animals found in the Safi River Valley.
The picture that sells the tour
As keepsakes, Becky got to keep the metal drinking canteen, received a pin and was able to download all of the pictures the guides took during the three hour tour. A delicious lunch was also included in the tour, with unlimited jungle juice!

Looks amazing and I can't wait to do it in August myself!

The third tour she reviewed for us was the Starlight Safari. This takes place at 10pm at night starting from the Animal Kingdom Lodge. It lasts an hour and gave Becky and her family the opportunity to to glimpse the animals upclose using night vision technology.

If you want more details about the tours, please listen to the podcast, which can be found in all places that catch podcasts including iTunes.

So all in all it was a busy tourtastic show! We will be back next Sunday with another show for you. Until then, to keep up to date with all things Disney Dream Girls you can:

Disney Dream Girls 110 - Frozen, Disneyland, Harry Potter Studio Tour & DLP Behind the Ride Refurbs

Welcome to the show notes of the Disney Dream Girls podcast, show 110 for Sunday 5th June 2016. Coming up on today's show Michelle and Jayne look at the offerings in Disneyland Resorts and Disneyland Paris for Summer 2016 plus lots more!

Firstly, a very special food report via our listener Katie Mason. There's only an Earl of Sandwich open in the UK! Katie shared pictures earlier in the week on our Facebook page, but in case you missed them, I've included a couple below.

And yes... they are sweet potato fries you can see in the picture! Unfortunately, the sandwiches are a little more expensive than in the USA but heck for a treat it is a slice of Disney on our doorstep!

Disney Parks blog released a list of sixteen sizzling things to do this Summer at Disneyland. Well we decided to make a comment on them. Unfortunately, unlike Walt Disney World, there isn't anything that new except for the Frozen show taking over at the Hyperion Theatre and a neat Annual Pass holder promotion on popcorn.

Over in Disneyland Paris, we take a closer look at two of the attractions that are being overhauled: Peter Pan's Flight and Rock N Roller Coaster.

With audio courtesy of the official Disneyland News website, we catch up to date with the revamp of Peter Pan as it sees them getting the blacklight and painting upgrade that the Disneyland Resort did recently. In Walt Disney Studios, my favourite rollercoaster, Rock N Roller Coast, is having some work done on its propulsion system and a paint upgrade. All sounds very exciting!

Then, Michelle announces she has taken all leave of her senses and has booked a weekend trip to Paris... just to try and meet Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. They are due to make an appearance at the Inventions Brunch on 19th June 2016.

Finally, on a non Disney note, Michelle shares a quick review of her trip to the Warner Brothers Studios, which is just outside London, where she toured the Harry Potter film sets.
So all in all it was a busy short show! We will be back next Sunday with another show for you. Until then, to keep up to date with all things Disney Dream Girls you can:

Ears with Sparkle and Style

We have been known, here at the Disney Dream Girls, to love our head attire. Whether it be tiara or ears, we wear them proudly... sometimes when we aren't even at a Disney theme park. So when I came across a new source for ears I had to invest in a pair of their bespoke stylish ears.

Meet Alyssa, she is the creative genius behind Queen Ursula - wearable art for Poor Unfortunate Souls. When she's not working, making ears or sleeping you will find her at a Disney park. Luckily, I got to meet her at Disneyland Paris earlier this year and got to know a little bit about her and the amazing ears she makes.

So how do you get into making something like this? I had the chance to ask Alyssa that very question along with a few more! She told me she made her first pair around 18 months ago because the designs in the stores really didn't do it for her. In fact, the only official ears she has are the limited edition Ursula ones that a good friend brought her back from Walt Disney World.
Beauty and the Beast Pair
She loves to wear flamboyant outfits (she is well known for her amazing Disney dresses and Disney bounds) when in the parks and needed ears to match so she started to make them herself. A year ago she listed her first pair on Etsy and things have gone from there. She says that it's so exciting that people enjoy her craft and ears. If she had to guess, she thinks she may have made around 450 pairs since then.
Previous Custom for Toy Story Fan
The most requested pairs by far are the Mickey and Minnie faces with Belle and Rapunzel being the most popular princess designs. As to personal favourites, she has too many to choose from. She loves the Cheshire Cat/Queen of Hearts pair as well as some Mary Poppins ears that are her sisters.
Tower of Terror Ears
The most amount of hours that have gone into a pair are the Tower of Terror and Phantom Manor ones she recently completed though she did say that she is currently working on some very detailed Cinderella ones right now.

She is incredibly busy, with her Etsy store currently closed. But follow her on twitter and instagram @queen_ursula_uk for updates on openings!
