324 Has The Magic Kingdom Lost Its Magic?

Welcome to the show notes for the Disney Dream Girls Podcast, show number 324, for Sunday 19th July 2020. If you want to listen, whilst reading these notes, just click the player below or alternatively find us on iTunes, Libsyn, Stitcher Radio, or any good podcast catching apps.

Welcome to this week's show notes, where you will find pictures showing Disneyland's 65th-anniversary merchandise and pictures from Seth Kubersky of the Magic Kingdom as it re-opened.

Disneyland's 65th Anniversary
On the 17th of July 1955 Disneyland opened. So it is a happy 65th to you! Michelle has many had memories of the 60th - which only seemed like it was two minutes ago! Whilst no one can celebrate in the park, many of our listeners have been creative and put together their special celebrations - what do you do? We would love to know!

Well, Michelle wanted to buy merchandise but the website said no. She got in line with a position of over 70,000 ahead of her - an estimated 12 hours wait! So she didn't!
However, some listeners faired better, and with an 8 hour plus wait Rebecca Michels managed to buy some of the items that hadn't sold out.
Michelle did like the look of the Loungefly bag but at $80 it is quite a chunk of money! However, the spirit jersey is definitely one she will purchase... at some point!

Then, we were joined by our guest - Seth Kubersky of the Unofficial Guides Series and all of the pictures below belong to him. We urge you to follow him on Twitter via @skubersky and @TheUGseries as well as their website https://theunofficialguides.com/ as they bring the theme parks of Orlando alive for those of us who are unable to visit.
Firstly, Disney has taken safety very seriously and there are signs and reminders of Covid-19 everywhere. Every ten minutes or so the music hushes for announcements to remind people to socially distance.
Seth talks about reserving entry to the park (something everyone now has to do) and parking.
He then moves on to park security and travel into the Magic Kingdom.
Once in the park, he explains the differences Disney has made regarding guest safety from attraction queues to relaxation stations.
For many, characters are a big draw. Well, Seth was pleased to say he found plenty but from a safe distance.
