On this week's show, we discuss the latest news about Tiana's Bayou Adventure, D23 - The Ultimate Disney Fan Event and the Enchanting Extras Collection.  

Bayou Criters

The names (and a little of the attraction story plat) was revealed this week. 

What are your thoughts on the story line? Will we ever get an opening date for Disneyland? For me, I can not wait to see - first hand - this attraction.

Taking place on the 9th through 11th August in the Anaheim Convention Centre as well as the Honda Centre. Tickets went on sale on the 26th March (for some D23 members).

Enchanting Extra Collection 

This linked really well to what we were discussing last week about the additional activities you can do at your resorts. We discussed what this collection includes and then moved on to the current theme park tours being offered at Walt Disney World.

We then created a couple of tours of our own... time will tell if Disney will increase their offerings to give us fans more backstage insights.

397 - The Keys to the Kingdom Tour is Back!

On this week's show, we welcome our very good friend Anthony Markham back to talk about his long weekend trip to the Festival of the Arts, where he also did the very first Keys to the Kingdom Tour in the Magic Kingdom. 

Anthony's Wanderings Around WDW

Anthony chose not to use his time on waiting in lines, so he wandered around - mainly at EPCOT. He found the Festival of the Arts to have so many offerings.

He also chose to attend the concert series at the America Gardens Theatre and on one of the evenings paid for a dining package at the Rose and Crown. 

His starter and salmon were a delight, however the sticky toffee pudding was dry and bland. Such a shame as this is a quintessential English classic. 

Keys to the Kingdom

Anthony booked the 5-hour and $114 keys to the kingdom tour but didn't realise he would be participating in the very first one. He loved the experience and highly recommends it.

269 Disney World for Adults

Wilderness Back Trail Adventure

Ride an X2 Segway through the beautiful Fort Wilderness resort - training and equipment is provided beforehand. This is a two hour experience offered twice daily on select days. The cost (as at release) is $99 but there are restrictions on who can participated in this one as well as clothing requirements. 

Mermaid School
We have reviewed this on the show before but still a fun thing to do! $50 and is offered at Disney's Art of Animation Resort, Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Resorts and Disney's Carribean Beach. Hop to show 262 to hear Kat describe her experiences (show link).

Water Based Activities

Sadly the Sammy Duvall watersports centre is no longer at WDW and if you recall, Jayne did a paragliding experience here all the way back in 2013. However, there are still all sorts of water based activities that can be booked. From hiring a range of boats to fishing. One of the activities that caught our eye is the $190 surfing experience at Typhoon Lagoon. In a three hour session, you get to catch 100 waves (broken in to four sets of 25) plus tutition and there are light snacks and beverages available. 

Dive Quest

An amazing opportunity to dive in the 57 million galloon tank amongst 6000 sea creatures. This is a 3 hour experience costing $180. However, you need to be SCUBA certified to do this but if you are not certified you can just do a snorkelling session.

Art Programmes
Join a professional artist for a session on creativity. This activity is based at select Disney resorts and costs between $30 and $50. 

Beignet Dash

The Course

Pop over to Port Orleans French Quarter for this $15 experience. Occurs every Sunday, check in is at the River Walk (call +1407 WDW PLAY to book but you can register on the day but payment is only by credit card). Then it involves a 1 1/2 mile course and at the end you are given a beaded necklace with an acryllic 'Beignet Dash' logo plus a voucher for a same day reward of three beignets.

Foot Golf

A 9 hole foot golf experience is available over at Disney's Oak Trail golf course. This definately sounds like a lot of fun and a nice alternative to the usual mini golf. Anyone tried this yet? We would love to hear your thoughts!

Carriage Rides at Fort Wilderness

Meet up at the Pioneer Hall and the cost, for adults, is $12. The rides are about 25 minutes and cover the Fort Wilderness resort.

Resort Visiting
Who has actually visited each and every resort? This is a fun thing to do, using the free Disney transport. Additionally, The Grand Floridian, Wilderness Lodge Boardwalk and the Yacht Club and offer a free hotel tour (check via concierge at the particular resort) and who can forget the free food tour of Boma and Jiko over at Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo House?

Disney Dream Girls 181 - Caring for Giants Review

Coming up on todays podcast, we are joined by Thomas Allison and together we talk about the Caring for Giants tour that we took together at Disney Animal Kingdom. We review our experience, share our thoughts plus some in park audio from the tour.

The tour lasts just about an hour and costs $30. All of the tour price goes directly towards funding projects based on elephant conservation. The tour can be booked by calling 407 939 7529 and it runs most days with tours departing from 9.30am up to 1pm. 

First port of call was to get our name tags and sign the waiver! This basically takes the liability away from Disney just in case something bad were to happen. 

We were then escorted by our guide, Kendal, to backstage where we travelled to the viewing area by a minibus. 

On arrival, we were introduced to Dan and he walked us up to the viewing away up a ramp. The area is on the backside of the elephant area and we could see in the distance the safari trucks passing by. Initially, we were given time to view the elephants but Dan was on hand to talk about the elephants. 

Then we were introduced to Kathleen, a cultural representative from Botswana. She spoke for around 15 minutes about her home as well as the projects that being being done by researchers there as well as in the Animal Kingdom.  I recorded the full tour and the spoken elements have been shared on our Patreon page (for our $5 a month and above supporters) whilst the element with Kathleen is on this podcast.

Disney Dream Girls 175 - Touring DHS in Star Wars Style

Disney Indiana

This is a bi-weekly podcast, where your hosts Tracey and Scott take you to Disney, Indiana and discuss books, movies, music, theme parks, video games and lots more in the Disneyverse that catches their eye. Star Wars Tour
The cost of the tour is currently $121.12 for children and adults and this does not include tax. Children under the age of 18 will need to be accompanied by an adult. Separate theme park ticket is also required. It is an outdoor walking tour hence dress appropropriately. 

This tour offers VIP access to a lot of the Star Wars themed elements available in the studios. Scott and Tracey will walk you through on the podcast the tour and what they did, however this is an overview (correct as of the date Tracey and Scott did the tour):

• Watch a screening of the movie, Star Wars: Path of the Jedi 
• Discover about the last flight to Endor
• Follow behind the March of the First order and then, from a reserved viewing area, watch the  live stage show—Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away.
• If you have children (aged 4-12 only), the ability to enrol them in Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple
• Ride into hyperspace aboard a Starspeeder 1000 on Star Tours – The Adventures Continue
• Have a Star Wars-inspired meal at Backlot Express
• Meet Chewbacca and Kylo Ren Character Greeting and possibly even BB8
• Look around saga-centric exhibits featuring replica props, models, concept art and artifacts at Star Wars Launch Bay
• Up to September 30, 2017 join other guests at the Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular Dessert Party
• Enjoy a reserved viewing of Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular nighttime fireworks event
• Take home gifts include a Chewbacca stein and keep sake themed name badge. 
  

That is a very extensive list! The tour lasts seven hours and whilst lunch did seem a little too long, Scott and Tracey were impressed by the content that was in the tour and felt the value for money was definately there, especially as the dessert party had a free bar and alone is over $60!
