592 The Disney Dream Girls Podcast

Welcome to the show for the Disney Dream Girls Podcast - show number 592 for Sunday 19th April 2026.

As always, if you wish to listen right now - click the link below.

Disney History

Tim Curry was born on this day in 1946 in Cheshire, England. So how do you know this British actor? Is it from The Rocky Horror Picture Show?

Could it be from his appearance in Disney's Three Musketeers? Maybe Muppet Treasure Island? Possibly something else? No matter what, in my eyes he loved for playing Mr Hector in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. Let us know your favourite Tim Curry film.

Sadly, on this day in 1987, Milt Kahl passed away on this day in Mill Valley California. Mr Kahl is a Disney Legend (inducted in 1989). He was recognised and admired by his colleagues for his draughtsmanship earlier into his career at Disney and his work can be still enjoyed in classics such as Pinocchio and Sword and the Stone.

Sci Fi Diner opened on this day in Disney Hollywood Studios 20th April 1991. This table service eatery sees guests transported to nighttime 1950's drive-in and whether you are 'parked' in a car or table, you will be able to enjoy a forty minute reel of classic TV ads, horror clips and cartoons.

Next time you are there, take a look at the license plates as they have awesome easter eggs of the USA states that have the highest UFO sightings as well as birthdates of some of those involved in the creation of this fun setting.

Lynne Macer Rhodes - Producer

Ms Macer began her WDI career in 1977 until 2002. In those twenty-five years, she held several management and creative positions including Manager of Research and Planning, Director of Program Development and Producer. She has worked on projects at Walt Disney World, Disneyland Paris, Disney California Adventure as well as Tokyo Disneyland

Thank you for making the Disney parks so wonderful!

Would you eat at Sci Fi Diner?

480 The Disney Dream Girls

Welcome to the show notes for the Disney Dream Girls Podcast - show number 480 for Sunday 19th November 2023.

If you would like to listen to the show, whilst reading these notes, click on the link above or find our podcast in all pod-catching places.

On this week's show we share some Disney history, news and our views on how to improve Jollywood Nights. Additionally,  we share some ideas on how to spend the Jollywood ticket cost on other items at DHS.

Jollywood Nights

We discuss in detail our thoughts about Jollywood Nights on our Patreon (Patreon Link) exclusive episode. For a few dollars a month, you get access to bonus content and our weekly podcast's ahead of everyone else.

On podcast 480, we offer a few suggestions on how we would make this event great value and worthy of either of us spending our hard earned money on it.

Don't get us wrong - in concept this is a fantastic idea. However, in execution (the first night had glitches) it was flawed.  The first night also gave clarity on some elements we were not sure about prior to the event such as food pricing, location of the Tip Top Club and quality of the stage show plus the sing along.

It will be interesting to see how the second night (18th November) went and how Disney tackled the issues from the previous week.

We encourage you to follow us on our our socials - @disdreamgirls as well as on our Facebook Page - Disney Dream Girls Podcast Family.

DDG 256 Disney with Deborah Wolfe

Welcome to the show notes for the Disney Dream Girls Podcast, show number 256 for Sunday 14th April 2019.  If you want to listen, whilst reading these notes, just click the player below or alternatively find us in iTunesLibsyn, on Stitcher Radio or via any good podcast catching app.

Coming up on this weeks show, Michelle is joined by Deborah Wolfe to talk about the Toy Story Land hard ticket event, Run Disney and the difference between Disney Cruise Line offerings and those from Royal Carribean.
Deborah loves Run Disney and has taken part in an array of events. For her, her costume is a major part of the event!

Have you a fantastic Run Disney story, costume or picture to share? We would love to hear from you!

After that, Deborah talks about her experiences of attending the Early Magic Morning Event at Disney Hollywood Studios.

Since recording, the breakfast has been moved to the Backlot Express and timings can vary with some guests being able to gain entry at 7am (purely to eat breakfast) and then make their way to the land at 7.30am.

You, as well as the other guests who have purchased this package, will have the land to yourself until 9am (day guests will be arriving from 8.45am). Breakfast is also served until 10am.

Breakfast is stated as all you care to enjoy for the cold offerings (eg the yoghurt bar and pastries) and whilst it says  one hot item in reality you can have more than that.

This event is great if you want to be able to have multiple rides on the attractions in this land and a theme park breakfast. However, at around $ a minute it is expensive.

If you want to find out how to book or just more information, visit the WDW website.

Then the discussion moved on to cruises. Both Michelle and Deborah have experience of travelling with Royal Carribean and Disney so between them they were able to discuss the differences and their opinion on whether the additional cost of Disney cruises was worth it.
We also gave information for listener Vikki Marie, who will be taking her family on their first cruise this coming summer!

Then that's about it for this week, we will be back next week with some more Disney chat!

DDG 221 - Tiffany and Daniel Review Toy Story Land

Welcome to the show notes for the Disney Dream Girls Podcast, show number 221 for Sunday 5th August 2018. If you want to listen, whilst you read these notes, all you have to do is press the green triangle on the audio player below. Alternatively, why not listen via iTunes, Stitcher Radio or any podcast catching place!
Coming up on this weeks show, we welcome previous guest Tiffany Morse and for his first time appearance - her son Daniel. Together they share details about an expected bonus Walt Disney World trip they were able to do.
A Good Neighbour Hotel Stay
They stayed at a good neighbour hotel in the Disney Springs area - the Hilton Lake Buena Vista Palace. They liked the convenience to Disney Springs and that they still had the benefits of a Disney hotel like the early fastpass booking window and extra magic hours. The downside however, was the shuttle was not available to match up to park hours. Daniel added that his favourite part of the hotel was the lazy river and the hot tub!
Toy Story Land
With the land freshly opened, Tiffany and Daniel were very excited to try out everything and along with Tiffany's daughter they had planned a full day at DHS.
With Fastpasses booked they were at the park early and ready to try out attractions and food offerings.

On the podcast, they share their thoughts about the land and review Woody's Lunchbox.
If you are looking to book a trip, Tiffany is able to help you out as she is also a vacation planner with Wishes Family Travel. You can email her tiffm@wishesfamilytravel.com or call her at 678 770 4144. If you mention DREAM50 at the time of booking your trip, you will be able to receive a $50 gift card at the time of departure. Which is a great offer so thank you Tiffany for enabling our listeners to receive that, as well as being able to use your services.

DDG 217 - Spotlight on Pixar

Welcome to part 1 of show notes for the Disney Dream Girls Podcast, show number 217 for Sunday 8th July 2018. If you want to listen, whilst you read these notes, all you have to do is press the green triangle on the audio player below. Alternatively, why not listen via iTunes, Stitcher Radio or any podcast catching place!
On this weeks show we review the two new but different Pixar based attractions that are open in the two American Disney theme parks.
Photo Credit - The Unofficial Guide to WDW for Kids
On these set of notes we start with Toy Story Land in Disney Hollywood Studios, as Disney have increased the size of the presence of Toy Story here into a full land. Toy Story Midway Mania remains unchanged apart from the new entrance however there are two new attractions; Slinky Dog Dash and Alien Saucer Spin.
Photo Credit - The Unofficial Guide to WDW for Kids
On opening weekend lines were incredibly long. At points guests with fastpasses only were being let into the land and queues were upto 300 minutes and beyond. Our advice is to rope drop these attractions and also utilise the Fastpass system via the Disney app. Another tip is to visit during the evening as the lighting is amazing.

Slinky Dog Dash
Slinky Dog Dash
Guests over 38" tall are able to ride this coaster style attraction which lasts approximately 2 minutes. Whilst it is not meant to be a white knuckle ride (like Rock n Roller Coaster) it certainly will play on the 'feels' of the land where adult guests are taken back to their childhood.

Alien Saucer Spin
Guests over 32" can ride this 'whipping' style attraction. Its movement is very reminicent of Mateors Junkyard Jamboree in Cars Land but themed to the cute aliens in the Toy Story franchise.

The Land Itself
The theming is excellent and will remind all adults of the familiar toys that they played with as a child. Some children may not recognise instantly some of the toys but they will be bowled over by the colours and playfulness of everything.

There are so many hidden secrets and gems to be found whilst walking around the popsicle benches and wall is an example of this.

Food Offerings
Lunch Box Tarts - Photo Credit WDW Website
Woody's Lunch Box is the place to go to if you want to eat in Toy Story Land. On the show we discuss the many offerings and give our verdict on them.
S'mores French Toast Sandwich - Photo Credit WDW Website
Whilst we both feel the offerings are quite heavy on bread placed products, it does as per the theming - offers a childs typical lunchbox.  However, this is perhaps prior to health professionals pressure on what a health lunch box should contain!
Monte Cristo - Photo Credit WDW Website
On the show we discuss our idea for the addition of a table service option for the land as well.

That is about it for this weeks notes, as usual we encourage you to contact the show in the usual manner.

Disney Dream Girls 177 - Hurray for Hollywood!

Welcome to the show notes for the Disney Dream Girls podcast for show number 177 for Sunday 17th September 2017. If you wish to listen to the podcast, whilst reading this blog, all you have to do is click on the audio player below. Alternatively, our podcast can be found in most places that host podcasts such as iTunes (click here to subscribe) and Stitcher Radio.

Coming up on this weeks show, Michelle continues her trip report by hopping over the Disney Hollywood Studios. You will recall Michelle was very sceptical about being able to spend a whole day in this park. However, nothing was further from the truth and in fact she spent a further morning there too! During the day she discovered lots of little gems to spend her time enjoying. So lets join her at the beginning of her day...
I am not very good at this attraction!
Like many visitors to DHS, my day began in the queue for Toy Story Midway Mania. Whilst my skills on this attraction are seriously lacking (yes I know there are websites with hints on them), I always enjoy visiting and enjoying this attraction at least 3 or 4 times a trip. Funnily on this trip, during my first game I got the identical score to Tom!
Hollywood Tower of Terror
Spooky interior
Throughout the morning we rode our favourite attractions, Tower of Terror and Star Tours multiple times and I managed a snack stop. Alas on my first trip to the park there were not any carrot cake cookies! This meant I had to make a subsequent trip later in the holiday to find one. We watched the march of the first order - very impressive and it was easy to get a good viewing spot for with just a few moments to spare.
Peanut Butter and Chocolate Cookie
Snowman Cuddles
Lunch was at Sci Fi Diner - a favourite eatery of ours. Tom had the BBQ burger and it was delicious as ever. Top tip, if you do not like your burger under cooked (i.e. pink in the middle) ensure you tell your car hop! I had the Mickey Check Meal of salmon and I asked for mash instead of rice. It was delicious and quite a big serving too (I'd estimate around 3-4oz for the fish).
Sci Fi Diner Interior
Star Lord and Groot Meet
After lunch we shopped, went to the Muppets attraction and managed to see the Music of Pixar Live. This was a limited run production in the theatre where Beauty and the Beast is shown earlier in the day. On the podcast, I share the audio from the UP segment - it brought tears to my eyes.
The Music of Pixar Live
ABC Commissionary Chicken and Ribs Combo
We kept ourselves busy with some character meets - the Star Lord interaction was particularly good and I can highly recommend. We spent a lot of time in One Man's Dream as we knew it was about to be changed into Walt Disney Presents.
The amazing Butterfinger Cupcake
One Man's Dream
The evening came around very quickily and we were able to get a front row standing spot for Disney Movie Magic. This was shown at 8.40pm and was a ten minute journey through the live action movies in Disney's back catalogue. Then at 9pm the Galactic Spectacular began. It was fantastic. Screen projections, lasers, fire and fireworks. A great show to wrap up our DHS day!
Star Wars Galactic Spectacular
