It had been over 3 years since Jayne has been able to experience Disney in person but she now has a trip booked and a countdown is in progress...

Michelle also has an upcoming trip in the works and whilst it may not be strictly Disney she already has plans afoot to incorporate a little Disney magic into it.

On the news front we muse about the recent prices increases announced for both Walt Disney World and Disneyland and the potential impact that they may have. Increases are always inevitable but the girls ask how much is too much.

Over in Disneyland the 'Holiday Time at the Disneyland Resort' is back. Guests can now enjoy this seasonal tour starting from 11th November and is one that Michelle has experienced a number of times.

Just as the girls were about to record they heard the sad news of the passing of Dame Angela Lansbury, just days before her 97th birthday which would have been today, 16th October.

The girls take a brief look at a career that spanned seven decades and at a life well lived.

426 - Top Tips for WDW Breakfasts

Coming up on this week's show we discuss where to grab the best of the best options for breakfast when planning a Walt Disney World trip. As part of this, Michelle will review the breakfast offerings at Ohana as well as Steakhouse 71.

Your first consideration should be how do you like to breakfast, do you want to tie food with characters and where you are staying and which park you will be attending. 

Animal Kingdom for example does not have many options when it comes to breakfasts so you may wish to grab a quick snack on the run from the bakery, snack shop or even Starbucks. But if you like characters - you may wish to choose Tusker House. 

The Magic Kingdom does have the wonderful Crystal Palace - which is a 100 Acre Wood based character meet. But do you want to take that 90 minutes out of your park time or do you want to mash up a character meet with eating? Another consideration, is that there are three hotels on the monorail loop all offering great options as well. 

EPCOT has not many choices because my previous favourite - Garden Grill is not offering breakfast right now. So perhaps a trip to France of Norway would be a good option.

Hollywood Studios does have a character based breakfast but it is Disney Junior so I would avoid unless someone in your group is a fan. Michelle's top tip would be Hollywood Scoops.

424 - The Disney Dream Girls

Tron Update

The attraction still has no opening date however, it is looking mighty fine! Ride vehicles have been seen zapping along the track and the outside queue area is developing. 

Tiana's Palace

This is a brand new restaurant offering in New Orleans Square over at the Disneyland Resort to fit in with Tiana's Bayou Adventure.

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance 

This is an attraction based at Disney's Hollywood Studios that opened on the 5th December 2019 (the version at Disneyland Resort opened on 17th January 2020). It is a motion simulator/trackless dark ride and it is packed with some amazing technology, animatronics,  practical sets, projection mapping and screen-based media.

Guardian's of The Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

This is an attraction based at EPCOT and it opened on 27th May 2022. It is an enclosed rollercoaster - the first at EPCOT and it is currently the only Disney coaster that features a backwards launch. In line with the Guardian's attraction over at Disney's California Adventure this attraction is enhanced with six songs that are randomly selected. They are:

Disco Inferno by The Trammps 

Everybody Wants to Rule the World by Tears for Fears

One Way or Another by Blondie

I Ran (So Far A Way) by A Flock of Seagulls

422 - Here's To A Disney Summer

Disney History

9th August 1899 - Pamela Lydon Travers was born (as Helen Lydon Goff) in Queensland, Australia.

9th August 1934 - Walt Disney outlines the story for his first full length animated feature film - Snow White. 

11th August 2014 - Robin Williams passed away. 

What you must do and see this summer at the Disneyland Resort

You must catch the Main Street Electrical Parade before it ends on the 1st September as well as Disneyland Forever fireworks that also end on that day. 

The Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage has re-opened!

Catch the offerings for Celebrate Soulfully, which is around til the 5th September. 

The Disneyland All-American Band is performing throughout the summer until 12th August. 

Plus lots of food and drink offerings!

Magic Band +

Costs $34.99 or $44.99 plus tax and includes a charger (these are available to buy if lost for $7.99) but there is a $10 discount for Walt Disney World hotel guests if bought prior to arrival. 

The Positives

Lots of really cool, and perhaps collectable, designs. 

Can enhance park experiences via in park quests (Batuu Bounter Hunters and collecting the Fab 50 statues).  

Interacts with the nighttime fireworks.

The Negatives

When bought, may not have any charge.

Charge does not last long. 

Who wants to look at a watch when there is amazing fireworks filling the skies. 

Interactivity with statues is a bit hit and miss.
