I was utterly amazed at the availability of reservations for places that are usually very difficult to get. I have no trouble booking GEO82, Beaches and Cream and Topolino's Terrace!

On this day in Disney history:

• March 24th 1956 saw the opening of the Astro Jets at the Disneyland Resort - closing in 1966 and replaces with Astro Orbitor.
• March 24th 1972 The Country Bear Jamboree opened in Bear Country at Disneyland (WDW's version opened in October 1971).
• March 24th 1986, the Sword in the Stone became the 4th Walt Disney Classic to be released on video.

Getting value at your resort

For many of us, staying at a Disney resort is just to ensure we have a sprinkle of magic, not having to leave the bubble and to be closer to get to the parks each day. 438 The Disney Dream Girls Podcast

Disney History

On this day (15th January 1905) Elias Paul 'Allie' Wrubel was born in New Middletown, Connecticut. His Disney connection is that he worked with Lyricist Ray Gilbert on Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah. This song won an Oscar in 1947.

The then CEO - Michael Eisner - announced plans to open a 4th theme park at Walt Disney World. 

Moving to the 16th January 1890, Edna Francis was born in Reece, Kansas. In 1925, she married Roy O. Disney and five years later gave birth to her only son - Roy E Disney. An ink artist in her own right, she was made a Disney legend in 2003 - some nineteen years after her death. She sadly passed away in 1984 at the age of 94.

Changes and more...

Well this week turned out to be a very busy news week...where do we start?

After much teasing via Instagram and other social medias we finally have a date for the opening of Tron Lightcycle Run. Disney started with an image of a high score table which left fans deciphering the scores for clues. The following day a 'reel' showing images from the game revealed what appeared to be two 4's...following a slue of comments Disney very quickly revealed the official opening date of 4th April 2023.

Next we had news about the return of 'Happily Ever After' at the Magic Kingdom and 'Epcot Forever' at Epcot, with both returning on 3rd April 2023. Along with confirmation that the barges will be removed from World Showcase Lagoon.

But wait we have more news for both Walt Disney World and Disneyland! Changes are coming very soon involving the removal of self parking charges at resort hotels at WDW, annual pass holder benefits and bonus content for Genie +. Disney Dream Girls - Show 436

This week the girls take a look at some news, dining packages and Christmas movies.

News

Disneyland Paris has just announced some price increases to their table service and buffet restaurants and some of the increases are rather large. While some restaurants have seen only a few Euro increase there are some with increases as high as 16 Euros!

In Walt Disney World changes to the RunDisney events have surprised the much needed volunteers who make these events possible. A previous reward of a days park ticket has now been reduced to a half day ticket.

Holiday Dining Packages

Over at Disneyland, the Plaza Inn is currently offering two seasonal dining packages.

The Christmas Fantasy Parade Dining Package gives you preferred viewing for the parade with dining between 1pm and 3.30pm. Prices are $40 per adult and $25 per child (plus tax & gratuity).

And then on New Years Eve there is the slightly more expensive New Years Eve Fireworks Dining Package. This will set adults back $125 and children $100 but gives preferred seating for those extra special fireworks.

Christmas Movies

After posing a question over on the Dream Girls Podcast Family page on Facebook the girls discuss some favourite Disney Christmas movies. And the big debate is whether Die Hard can now be classed as a Disney movie as it's available on Disney + and whether it is a Christmas movie!!

A second series of 'Magic of the Animal Kingdom' will premiere on 1st January on the National Geographic channel but the entire series of 10 episodes will be on Disney + on 4th January 2023. This forms part of the Disney 100 years of wonder celebration, which starts on New Year's Eve.

On the news front we muse about the recent prices increases announced for both Walt Disney World and Disneyland and the potential impact that they may have. Increases are always inevitable but the girls ask how much is too much.

Over in Disneyland the 'Holiday Time at the Disneyland Resort' is back. Guests can now enjoy this seasonal tour starting from 11th November and is one that Michelle has experienced a number of times.

Just as the girls were about to record they heard the sad news of the passing of Dame Angela Lansbury, just days before her 97th birthday which would have been today, 16th October.

The girls take a brief look at a career that spanned seven decades and at a life well lived.

We share our list of our favourite DLP snacks and agree that our in-park favourite was the pineapple whip however, we did like quite a lot from the Disney Village area. 

Then, just literally as we finished recording, Disneyland Paris released some amazing food news. They will will be upping their snack game by having the Mickey bar (and lots of other new to DLP items) available in the park!

Yes the Mickey bar will be coming to DLP!
