Disney History

Tim Curry was born on this day in 1946 in Cheshire, England. So how do you know this British actor? Is it from The Rocky Horror Picture Show?

Could it be from his appearance in Disney's Three Musketeers? Maybe Muppet Treasure Island? Possibly something else? No matter what, in my eyes he loved for playing Mr Hector in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. Let us know your favourite Tim Curry film. 

Sadly, on this day in 1987, Milt Kahl passed away on this day in Mill Valley California. Mr Kahl is a Disney Legend (inducted in 1989). He was recognised and admired by his colleagues for his draughtsmanship earlier into his career at Disney and his work can be still enjoyed in classics such as Pinocchio and Sword and the Stone. 

Sci Fi Diner opened on this day in Disney Hollywood Studios 20th April 1991. This table service eatery sees guests transported to nighttime 1950's drive-in and whether you are 'parked' in a car or table, you will be able to enjoy a forty minute reel of classic TV ads, horror clips and cartoons.

Next time you are there, take a look at the license plates as they have awesome easter eggs of the USA states that have the highest UFO sightings as well as birthdates of some of those involved in the creation of this fun setting.

Ms Macer began her WDI career in 1977 until 2002. In those twenty-five years, she held several management and creative positions including Manager of Research and Planning, Director of Program Development and Producer. She has worked on projects at Walt Disney World, Disneyland Paris, Disney California Adventure as well as Tokyo Disneyland

394 - Magic Kingdom Restaurants - Where to Eat and Where to Avoid!

On this week's show, we review each and every table service restaurant in the Magic Kingdom!

Tony's Town Square Restaurant

Our first stop - according to our Disney Dream Girl Podcast Family - is the most unpopular! Despite the super cute themeing, many of our listeners felt the food did not hit the spot on flavour. 

The Crystal Palace

Usually a character meet and greet buffet but currently its offerings have been modified. Note the chairs are the same as Tony's!

Cinderella's Round Table

Next, another eatery that centers around the characters (however currently does not have them). A set price eatery for three courses and a big draw is the stunning interior. Pricey but for us it is a one and done experience!

Be Our Guest

Again another stunning restaurant. However, it is a set price eatery now and the menu has not really changed since I last ate there in 2018! Alas, not popular with our listeners as they all want the quick service option for lunch bringing back!

Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd Skipper Canteen

A very popular option - mainly due to its unusal flavours - with our listeners. An a la carte menu offers opportunities for guests to select to have just a starter and main too!

The Plaza Restaurant

A great place - in our opinion - for classic options such as a burger and ice-cream sundae!

Liberty Tree Tavern

A fixed-price eatery that really does ensure a full tummy thanks to its three-course offering of its Patriot's Platter. A big hit with us!

Disneyland Top Picks

So, we all love ice-cream - yes? Well the place for this, at Christmas, is Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor (mobile order available). Here I recommend the Peppermint Holiday Sundae – Two scoops of peppermint ice cream with fudge topping, crushed peppermint, whipped cream, and a cherry on top - delicious!

Another iconic staple at the Disneyland resort are the Gingerbread men and there is nothing better than popping by the Jolly Holiday Bakery to grab a couple!

Walt Disney World

Now we can't talk food without hopping coasts to Walt Disney World and here we can indulge our love of all things sweet and Mickey shaped!

The Main Street Bakery is offering a Mickey-shaped cinnamon roll with seasonal icing drizzle.  

 

Alternatively, the desserts at the Sat'uli Canteen are always a delight but we have to mention this aumunal delight.

308 Three Dream Girls and a whole lot of breakfasts

On this week's show, we are joined by the lovely Becky Manion to review a trio of Disney brunches that she enjoyed during a recept Walt Disney World trip. In addition, we also talk about what is happening regarding annual passes and Disney staff as well as ending the show with how we are filling our days with Disney. 

We start with the brunch at Chef Art Smiths.

The menu option is a la carte or one Disney dining credit. We go through the menu and discuss the options and Becky reveals what she tried.

We all agreed that the food and drink options were very tempting and all of us said that we would like to visit here.

The next brunch was the Bon Voyage Breakfast at the Trattoria al Forno restaurant. 

This is a set price meal ($45 for adults) and consisted of pastries, a main course, and a beverage. It starts at 7.30am and runs till midday.

The big draw, of course, is the character interaction. Here you can meet Rapunzel, Flynn Rider, Ariel, and Prince Eric.

Alas, Becky was not impressed. Her food was quite dry and thought the price point was (although comparable to other character breakfasts) too steep for the food offered. 

Next, our final eatery - Le Cellier. They were offering a special brunch during the Festival of the Arts. 

Their meal started with a bowl of pastries for the table. 

Then an entree, dessert, and coffee. In her party, they enjoyed the eggs benedict and the avocado toast. To finish, she tried the coffee and doughnuts whilst her dad had the creme brulee.  

The brunch was offered 11am till 3pm and was 2 dining credits or $67. Becky found the restaurant a little dark - especially when it was a lovely sunny day outside and she didn't really want to be inside. 

The food was nice but worth the $67 - no as for a bit more she could have enjoyed the far superior brunch at the California Grill. 

After enjoying talking through all of the food, we looked at some available merchandise - have you seen the new dip-dye spirit jersey?
