Spotlight - Disney Female Imagineers

This week, we are showcasing Disney imagineer Retta Scott. Retta is credited as being the very first Disney Studio animator. Celebrating her, all ties in to her date of birth - the 23rd February 1916.

As Bambi former supervising animator Frank Thomas recalled, “Retta had an astounding ability to draw powerful animals. She seemed to have a keen understanding of their moods and attitudes.”

She was inducted as a Disney Legend in 2000, sadly ten years after her death.

Finally the new kiosk has opened to enable you to buy alcoholic or non alcoholic beverages plus the much-loved school bread. Beware - this location does not accept cash!

Disney Village - Disneyland Paris, McDonalds

A brand new McDonalds has opened in the Disney Village with the former building now closed. We disuss its eco creditials and welcome hearing more about its menu.

Jollywood Nights

We discuss in detail our thoughts about Jollywood Nights on our Patreon (Patreon Link) exclusive episode. For a few dollars a month, you get access to bonus content and our weekly podcast's ahead of everyone else.

On podcast 480, we offer a few suggestions on how we would make this event great value and worthy of either of us spending our hard earned money on it.

Don't get us wrong - in concept this is a fantastic idea. However, in execution (the first night had glitches) it was flawed. The first night also gave clarity on some elements we were not sure about prior to the event such as food pricing, location of the Tip Top Club and quality of the stage show plus the sing along.

It will be interesting to see how the second night (18th November) went and how Disney tackled the issues from the previous week.

438 The Disney Dream Girls Podcast

Disney History

On this day (15th January 1905) Elias Paul 'Allie' Wrubel was born in New Middletown, Connecticut. His Disney connection is that he worked with Lyricist Ray Gilbert on Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah. This song won an Oscar in 1947.

The then CEO - Michael Eisner - announced plans to open a 4th theme park at Walt Disney World.

Moving to the 16th January 1890, Edna Francis was born in Reece, Kansas. In 1925, she married Roy O. Disney and five years later gave birth to her only son - Roy E Disney. An ink artist in her own right, she was made a Disney legend in 2003 - some nineteen years after her death. She sadly passed away in 1984 at the age of 94.

Changes and more...

Well this week turned out to be a very busy news week...where do we start?

After much teasing via Instagram and other social medias we finally have a date for the opening of Tron Lightcycle Run. Disney started with an image of a high score table which left fans deciphering the scores for clues. The following day a 'reel' showing images from the game revealed what appeared to be two 4's...following a slue of comments Disney very quickly revealed the official opening date of 4th April 2023.

Next we had news about the return of 'Happily Ever After' at the Magic Kingdom and 'Epcot Forever' at Epcot, with both returning on 3rd April 2023. Along with confirmation that the barges will be removed from World Showcase Lagoon.

But wait we have more news for both Walt Disney World and Disneyland! Changes are coming very soon involving the removal of self parking charges at resort hotels at WDW, annual pass holder benefits and bonus content for Genie +. We share our list of our favourite DLP snacks and agree that our in-park favourite was the pineapple whip however, we did like quite a lot from the Disney Village area.

Then, just literally as we finished recording, Disneyland Paris released some amazing food news. They will will be upping their snack game by having the Mickey bar (and lots of other new to DLP items) available in the park!

Yes the Mickey bar will be coming to DLP!

Well Valentines Day is only a week away and Walt Dsiney World have some yummy looking treats to celebrate with.
