Cake Decorating at Amorette's Patisserie
On this week's show we share our news and views as well as discussing some of the things you can do outside the themeparks.

What do you think - are you convinced to try your skills to re-create the orange bird in cake? The cake itself, sounds amazing and whilst it is $195, you can order a second cake for $50. This price is for two adults, decorating one cake.

We also discuss the art based pre-bookable events at Coronado Springs and the Segway X2 adventure you can take at Fort Wilderness.

Have we persuaded you yet?

Disney Dream Girls 203 - Disney Characters, Chocolates and Attractions

Want to find out where to find the best chocolate treats in the American Disney theme parks? Well read on because below we share our top finds!
If you want to hear us discuss this, it is on our podcast - The Disney Dream Girls Podcast, show number 203 for Sunday 1st April 2018. You can find us on iTunes, Stitcher Radio and all podcast catching places or if you want to listen now all you have to do is press the green triangle on the audio player above. Lets get to the chocolate!
Mickey Premium Bar
Our first item is a personal favourite of Jayne's - funnel cake. Currently, there are two delicious chocolate enhanced versions a cookies and cream version in EPCOT and a chocolate brownie version in Disneyland. Both are guaranteed to hit the spot! These are monster desserts and the they do come out to be one of the pricer items on our list but Jayne's top tip is to share it round!
Cookies and Cream Funnel Cake
Moving to our next top tip - Ghiradelli. In the Disneyland Resort this can be found inside Disney California Adventure and in Walt Disney World it is in Disney Springs. As you enter the store, you are given a complimentary chocolate - so this is the only item on our list which is free!
Trio of Painted Ladies
Anything here is good especially if it includes their chocolate fudge sauce which is devine! So basically anything on the menu with that - will be awesome! However, in our opinion, the most indulgent item is the Painted Ladies Midnight Reverie but there are a trio of painted ladies and Jayne's personal favourite is the Espresso one.
Chocolate Macaron Ice Cream Sandwich
The next on our list was a hop over to EPCOT to the France pavillion to L'Artisan Des Glaces for their amazing chocolate macaron ice cream sandwich. Mouthwateringly soft macaron with deep rich chocolate ice cream - perfect for a Florida cool down.

Many love a chocolate/coffee combo, however another great combo is chocolate, nuts and caramel - a fabulous trio. These ingredients make up the nut clusters that can be found in the confectioners on Main Street USA. Maybe it is due to the Mickey on the front, or just could be the two types of chocolate but these are a great treat.
Next on the list is an offering from the Satu'li Canteen at Animal Kingdom. This domed delight, is the chocolate cake from the quick service in Pandora. It has a crunchy base then rich chocolate goodness with a crisp outer shell. The banana cream on top and the pineapple on the side compliment it perfectly. This is a fabulous dessert and well worthy of its entry to this list.
Petit Cake - Amorettes
There can be no list of the best chocolate in a Disney theme park without a very big mention to Amorettes, which is a must visit store in Disney Springs. There are so many chocolate delights here to enjoy but a must have is the petit cake. It has eleven layers of red velvet cake, Italian buttercream, fruit jel, chocolate and cherry mousses.
Blueberry cheesecake, petit cake and chocolate eclair
To be honest, we could have included many other items from here but another amazing item is their chocolate covered strawberries - three for $6.
Butterfinger Cupcake
Our final item is the Butterfinger cupcake, which is available from Starbucks at Disney Hollywood Studios. This is under $6 and packs a massive chocolate hit being a chocolate cupcake with chocolate fudge filling, a marshallow topping that is dipped in chocolate before the Butterfinger crumbles are added. Try it - you will thank us!
Inside the Butterfinger Cupcake
Well that is out list! Our listeners did add in notable mentions to the tiger tail marshmallow wand from Disneyland, the Mickey Premium Bar and the chocolate mud pie from Flo's V8 at Disney California Adventure. But did we miss your favourite? Let us know! We can be contacted via:

Disney Dream Girls 180 - Dining Delights and More At WDW

Welcome to the show notes for the Disney Dream Girls podcast for show number 180 for Sunday 8th October 2017. If you wish to listen to the podcast, whilst reading this blog, all you have to do is click on the audio player below. Alternatively, our podcast can be found in most places that host podcasts such as iTunes (click here to subscribe) and Stitcher Radio.

Coming up on this weeks show, Michelle is joined by fellow podcaster - Thomas Allison and together they talk through some of the joint experiences they had whilst at Walt Disney World this August.
Geyser Point Bar and Grill
If you are looking for a little escapism, good quality food that is attractively priced and a refreshing beverage then look no further - this is the place for you! This eatery was a favourite place to eat during our stay and we made sure our friends Tommy, Lena, Sam and Ashley all visited to enjoy the delicious food.
Bison Burger
The main attraction here is undoubtedly the bison burger, however I tried the lump cake cake sandwich and that was just as good. Whilst only a small area, there is further seating by the lake so I never found getting a table a problem.
After our delicious burger, we were able to watch Happily Ever After. We didn't know this beforehand but they pipe in the fireworks music and by the lakeside you can get a great non theme park view of the night sky being illuminated.
We then hot-footed it up to the Territory Lounge, a mere five minute walk. Up to 9.30pm you can order from the Artist Point menu and the star of the show are their warm donuts. In the paper bag were seven warm sugared donuts filled with a lingonberry jam. On the side was a rich coffee chocolate ganache. Sadly when writing up these show notes and checking on the menu, the filling of these seems to have changed... but try them - as I am sure they will be delicious.

Carolwood Pacific Room
For a close link to Walt, whilst at the Wilderness Lodge, you must visit the Carolwood Pacific Room. There you will find a small collection of artefacts linking Walt to his love of trains. It is just past the gift shop and down the pathway to Boulder Ridge Villas.

Homecoming Kitchen Another restaurant first for us was Chef Art Smiths Homecoming Kitchen. Whilst we have reviewed here a few times on the podcast, I personally had not been. Well the portions and quality are the reason why you need to visit. Simple southern food that is cooked well with lots of added love.

Signature Buttermilk Fried Chicken
Feta and Watermelon Summer Salad
Amorettes
Of course we couldn't visit Disney Springs without visiting our favourite cake shop (pardon me - patisserie!). As always, we had a delightful selection to choose from but you know what? I can't help but always having the same petit cake!
Food and Wine
This year was a first for us - neither of us had been to the Food and Wine festival and we had a great day but wish we would have visited a couple more times. The food on offer is of such a wide variety and some posing better value than others.  So my top tip is to hang around the book and check out what others are having! Anyway, here are my two top picks!
Chocolate Tart from The Chocolate Studio
We also went to a cookery demonstration by chef Valorie Entres. We booked this as a pastry class, so we were a little disappointed that is had turned in to being about bagels. However, Valarie was a gem and she did a great talk and boy those bagels were delicious!
So I hope we have given you some thought for thought for when you are planning your next trip to Walt Disney World! Remember, you can always email us to ask us a specific question and we will try our best to help.

Constant Cravings for Amorettes

Warning, you might not want to read this when hungry as it contains mouth-watering images of the most decadent, delicious delacies you ever want to eat!

Pinboard inside Amorettes enhancing the theme
Amorettes opened up a few short months ago in the Town Centre section of Disney Springs. I was in Orlando for just 15 days and in that time I visited Amorettes not once but four times. This alone should give you a clue to how much I loved their fine patisserie. In fact, if getting to Disney Springs wouldn't have taken 2-3 hours out of my day, I would have eaten there daily. To find out... look and read on!
My favourite that I took away to enjoy at the hotel
During my visits, I managed to try at least six of the cakes currently on the menu. I opted to try flavours I was familiar with or liked. But there truly is something for everyone. However, there was a cake I had twice because I loved it so much - Amorette's Petit Cake. This was sublime! Whilst only classed as a petit cake, I shared it out for a taste between six or would work between two or three for dessert.
Stunning packaging and fabulous staff
This cake has eleven layers - yes eleven. They consist of:
  • red velvet cake
  • chocolate cake
  • cherry mousse
  • chocolate mousse
  • raspberry pate de fruit jelly
  • Italian buttercream
Up close, the eleven layers of the Petit Cake

Tea Time Petit Cake
Another Petit Cake was the Tea Time Petit Cake. This one was very pretty and I saw a chef hand finishing them in the store. They really are truly mini pieces of art. This cake was packed with layers of lemon flavours.
Dancing with Pavlova
Upclose view
The Dancing with Pavlova was another favourite. It was so delicate but packed a real flavour punch. Originally, this was a square design but I feel the design change has visually enchanced it and the delicate floral touch is very pretty. The raspberry jelly was so good! It had a really light touch and I felt I wasn't been too greedy with this one.

For chocoholics there are plenty of choices too from their Opera Cake (coffee and chocolate flavours), Avant Guarde (chocolate chiffon cake) and their Sacher Torte (chocolate, almond and apricot). Also don't forget their other pastries as there are lots to choose from including an incredible chocolate chip cookie.

If you want to celebrate, there are the dome cakes. These are playfully based around Disney characters. I would imagine would serve anywhere from 6 as a large dessert to tastings for around 12 people. Each cake has a different flavour profile and the difficulty is choosing which to order!

Have you been and tried a cake from Amorettes? Please let us know your thoughts! Finally, listen out to our podcast number 125 as we will be talking more about Amorettes on this show.
